Destination Golf

The new frontier in golfing experiences is right here in the Sandhills with several unique courses to choose from.

Valentine Golf Course - Federick Peak - The central view is of Fredrick Peak which you can see posted in the gallery. The course was designed by Tom Lehman and Chris Brands of the Lehman Design Group,  http://www.lehmandesigngroup.com/home.html, the same duo who designed the Dunes Course at Prairie Club. Pictured at Frederick Peak are Designer Chris Brands and Greens Superintendent Tadd Buechle.

Prairie Club - Prairie Club Golf Course opened  June 11, 2010, with a ribbon cutting by Governor Dave Heineman, Senator Deb Fischer, world class golfer Graham Marsh and founder Paul Schock. These four played the first "official" round of golf on the jewel in the Sandhills.

The Pines Course, one of three courses, was designed by Marsh. Tom Lahman and Chris Brands designed the Dunes Course, and a game of basketball on the prairie is played on the Horse Course, designed by Gil Hanse. A unique course, played like the basketball game HORSE, where the winner of the revious hole chooses how the next hole will be played.

The three courses were designed and created "to leave well enough alone." A fourth course is in the works named Old School with architect Gil Hanse in collaboration with Jim Wagner and Geoff Shackelford. This course, along with the Pines, will have golfers breathing in the sharp scent of the pines along the Snake Canyon rim.

The Dunes Course is links style golf at its finest, similar to the first courses developed in Scotland where it was played as early as the 1400s.

Prairie Club also has a very fine clubhouse that will care for all your dining and lodging needs, 17 miles southwest of Valentine, overlooking the Snake River Valley. To make reservations call 1-888-402-1101, or e-mail info@theprairieclub.com. For more information on golf packages go to: http://theprairieclub.com
